My pieces are an outcome of an obsession with materials and objects. Having initially studied fashion I had a strong impulse to create for the body. However, in due time I realised that fabric was not my preferred medium. I had always collected all sorts of items. And on an impulse I began to attach an array of small objects on a chain to wear them on my neck, almost as talismans. They then evolved to become more complex compositions exploring material relationships, organic and artificial. The most important stage for me is gathering the materials, driftwood that floated to me in a river whilst rafting, light bulbs and hex keys I dug out at flea markets and lots of glass/ ceramic shards I’d picked up whilst mudlarking by the Thames. They all carry energy and have signs of wear. Then it is just the process of composing them onto the body as amalgamations of a journeyed past that evolve them into their final forms.
Alongside my jewellery practice I am an artist currently studying at the Royal College of Art, find my work here.
